Yeoman Rand is accompanied by a TOS Engineering base, and some standard black Starfleet accessories, like a phaser and a PADD. Rand was played by Grace Lee Whitney, who left the show after the first season. Unlike some other co-stars, Whitney maintained that she never had a relationship with creator Gene Roddenberry.
